Fablehaven Book Launch Party & a Jazz Game

A Long, But Enjoyable Evening

We're big fans of the Fablehaven series, by author Brandon Mull. So we (myself, Audrey, & Mike) were excited to attend the book launch party of the fourth installment of the series at Cottonwood High School last night. There were games, photo opts, a teenie pop band, a comedy troop, and the author himself on hand for our entertainment. I ran into a pair of students from my class - one of whose family we sat with (after they let us get in line with them!). This was followed by a late starting Jazz game against the Houston Rockets in which a friend (Thanks Charles!) provided Mike and I with lower bowl seats (a place I haven't sit in four seasons!). It was a very long night, getting home just before midnight, but a lot of fun!

Daddy & Audrey met Muriel, the witch, from book 1.

My little girl got caught up in the hype of everything. Here she is standing and shouting on her seat. It was around this time that she leaned back and shouted, "This is Awesome! Mom should have come!"

This was Audrey's favorite part - Fablehaven fairies dancing (U of U dance students)!

Well-known Utah authors Brandon Mull & Shannon Hale. James Dashner, another of our favorite authors, was in attendance and sitting just a few rows in front of us!

Mike was great and looked after Audrey, even carrying her to and from the car.

Later in the evening we went to the Jazz game. It was strange sitting in different seats at a different angle for the first time in several seasons. We saw stat boards we didn't know existed, because we can't see them from the upper bowl behind the Jumbotron. It was an intense game. Thankfully the Jazz pulled out a win. We got our cheering in and are convinced that Luis Scola of the Rockets heard us harassing him with our well timed jeers!

Check out Brandon Mull emerging from the quiet box (book 2 reference) to the delight of the crowd!
